Tiger Woods On the Nike Ad

I commented yesterday on the Nike ad. I thought it made Tiger Woods look phony. Below is a video of his comments on the ad. I know Nike's interest is to sell sneakers and T-shirts, caps, and such. Tiger Woods interest maybe more than to please Nike. Maybe this is part of his healing, another demonstration of his penitence, with the lingering promise of more to come.. But enough already. Enough with the shame. Bringing out the deceased father seemed going over the top.

The Washington Post summed it up well --"If Woods is feeling real, true shame -- not regret that he got caught, not regret that his golf game might have suffered, but real sorrow over what he's done to his family -- then he might be able to fix the mess he's made of his life. But his shame is his; it shouldn't be used to sell golf shirts. What's next, a 30-second video clip of Elin yelling at him for forgetting to take out the trash? "

Again,  Tiger Woods didn't need to make all of these apologies. What he did was is his private business. It effects his family, and business as it is related to his commercial sponsors.  It are the hypocritical mouths that are screaming the loudest for an apology from him, for an endless series of apologies. He's been apologizing, it seems forever. Hypocritical people act as if they never make mistakes. Very successful people like Tiger Woods, when they stumble, they really get gotten, by the monsters of exploitation, whom jump on other people's trouble for personal gain and for profit, and by the monsters of envy, who crank up the criticism to the harshest level. Tiger Woods is just a man who is a great golfer. Let the hypocritical horde just live with that.

Nike's Self-Serving Tiger Wood's Ad

Nike, under the log line, "Earl Woods asks his son a few questions before Tiger's return to golf," has put out a commercial with a contrite looking Tiger Woods, taking a scolding, from his father. This seems to be Nike's way to say to the mothers and fathers who buy Nike sneakers and other stuff for their kids, that "Gee, he's had a parental talking to, so now he's okay."

In the video, Nike uses the voice from Tiger Woods deceased father, and Tiger plays his part as the naughty little boy, who now is going to be good. Well, give me a break! Maybe Nike has to do what it does to protect the sale-ability of it products, and Tiger Woods had to go along to make Nike happy. But for crying out loud!

Tiger Woods doesn't need this video. It makes him look phony.  Well, this is what is done for money.

Tiger Woods Update

An update on the Tiger preparing for the Masters that begins tomorrow, on the 8th, -- The Associated Press reports that Tiger Woods, his fellow golfers, and the officials at the Augusta National golf club, all feel more relax from the tension on Monday, leading up to the Tiger Woods' press conference, and that the focus is back where it should be, on golf. The Tiger remains the center of attention. The question is how well will he play after five months of being away from the game, and how mentally focused will he. And because he is Tiger Woods, the best golfer in the world, he would be the center of attention at Augusta in any event.

The golfers say that they expect Tiger Woods to play well, that he has the will to win. Jack Nicklaus, who has won 18 major championships, four more than Woods. "Why do you think he's here? I don't think he's here for his health or anything. He's here to play golf. That's what he is. He's a very good golfer. It's the first major of the year. He's taking large steps to get his life back in order, and he wants to play golf." (The Associate Press).

The Tiger Is Back

I watched the press conference Tiger Woods held yesterday, and was convinced that he did well for himself and will be welcomed back by his fans. Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer in the world and probably the greatest golfer of all times. His private life is his private life. His public life -- what he does on the golf course -- belongs to his fans.

There are many who will keep picking at him, keep dragging out his dozen or so ex-mistresses, and a few of exes will drag themselves out, to extend their moment in the spotlight, hoping that it will bring them financial rewards. Print and electronic media will continue to dredge up stories of his past foibles. Scandals sell newspapers and magazines, and draw eye balls to television, and to computer screens, and sex scandals sell the best, especially, when before the scandal broke, the lead player was considered squeaky clean.

Tiger Woods is not just a great golfer, he has a great television personality. He knows how and when to smile, and to be humble and to look sincere, and since he knows how to play his game, the game of golf, he will make a comeback, not just on the golf green, but also with his public. In short, a Mister Talented with a Personality is always a Mister Popular.

The Tiger Returns to The Masters

Tiger Woods is back on the golf course, practicing, getting ready to play for the Masters at the Augusta National golf club, which begins on April, 8th. This is expected to be the most watched pro-golf event in history. The media has been making ready since last month, when he announced his return to golf.  He is to hold a press conference  today, Monday, at 2 p.m. And, as the Daily News reports, interest in him is so high "that the club has limited seating to one reporter for each news outlet, with only a few exceptions." The press conference is scheduled to be held in the club's interview room, a small space that will limit the number of reporters able to attend and to ask questions. The press conference is not expected to be moved to a larger space, because of  "the club's staid rules of decorum and a culture that insulates pro golfers from the media and fans." (ABC News)

Google's April Fool's Joke

Well, go to the Google home page today, April 1st,  the day for April Fools jokes, look and what do you see? A little buffoonery from the Google Corporation.

On its landing page is the strange name TOPEKA, a name that sounds like something from the 1950s. Yes a retro name. Yes, too 2Oth century. Right there, only the most sheltered rube would get fooled by that joke. Then there is this little announcement: "Not In Kansas: learn about our new name."

Yeah. So I clicked to get a little more info. Top of the page is this statement: "Early last month the mayor of Topeka, Kansas stunned the world by announcing that his city was changing its name to Google. We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka."

HaHa Ho Ho. What a weak joke.

Now, if the folks at Goggle, I mean Google,  had claimed to have been acquired by an iintergalactic corporate empire, and admit that it is now being run by space aliens --. Well? That  some people could believe.

Jesse James Holds Up In Sex Clinic Like In Kimmel's Joke

This morning CBS News, or should we say CBS gossip and rumor,  is speculating that Sandra Bullock's outlaw husband, by rumors, soon to be her ex, the current media made nation's bad boy,  Jesse James, wants to save his marriage. In the wake of "rumors" that he's had as many as five affairs, James has reportedly checked himself into the Sierra Tuscon Clinic, which specializes in sex and drug rehabilitation. Five affairs? Back up. Only five affairs?

Well, with all the bimbo eruptions, a new one every day, who cares what is the count, but that is the count now?  Mistress #5  has just been outed.  Maybe there are more? Who cares?  Anyway, a man's affairs are no body's business but his own and his wife's. However, it seems rehab  may be a very smart move from his point of view -- marriage saving or not. If rehab was his idea or some lawyer's, it's the best PR move available. Check into rehab, lay low for a few days, then come out with a Jesus statement  -- in the Tiger's (Tiger Woods) case -- a Buddha statement -- promising to be a good boy and to keep the zipper up. It seems the bimbos are lawyering up. For what? I can only guess.

Also this Jesse James going into rehab thing  -- and this may be the only reason why I am giving it a mention -- reminds me of a sketch Jimmy Kimmel did on his show late last week, about Hollywood stars running off to sex clinics, when they get into this kind of media trouble. It is a funny bit, Thought I would post that here.

Jaime Escalante, Educator, R.I.P.

The Associated Press reported tonight that Jaime  Escalante, the math teacher who transformed Garfield High, a tough East Los Angeles high school, and inspired the 1988 movie, "Stand and Deliver," starring Edward James Olmos, died today, March 30, 2010, at his son's home near Sacramento, after battling bladder cancer for several years. He was 79 years old.

Jaime  Escalante was one of the most important educators of his generation. Why? Because -- as  Edward James Olmos said, "Jaime  Escalante exposed one of the most dangerous myths of our time — that inner city students can't be expected to perform at the highest levels. Because of him, that destructive idea has been shattered forever."

What Jaime  Escalante did was to change a school's  public image and its students self image by actually teaching and  motivating struggling students, to achieve, to excel. His means was teaching the students at Garfield High advanced math and science. "The school had more advanced placement calculus students than all but three other public high schools in the country."
