Jaime EscalanteJaime EscalanteThe Associated Press reported tonight that Jaime  Escalante, the math teacher who transformed Garfield High, a tough East Los Angeles high school, and inspired the 1988 movie, "Stand and Deliver," starring Edward James Olmos, died today, March 30, 2010, at his son's home near Sacramento, after battling bladder cancer for several years. He was 79 years old.

Jaime  Escalante was one of the most important educators of his generation. Why? Because -- as  Edward James Olmos said, "Jaime  Escalante exposed one of the most dangerous myths of our time — that inner city students can't be expected to perform at the highest levels. Because of him, that destructive idea has been shattered forever."

Yesterday, March, Sunday March 28, 2010, a date that will live in the memory of pro-wrestling fans, Shawn Michaels  left the ring for the last time. After twenty two years, from 1988 to 2010, he was retired  as a pro-wrestler. The Monday Night Raw fan magnet, one of the biggest stars of pro-wrestling,  went out, retired by that hulking menace of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), the Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. • Perfect Bracket Thus Far

BracketBracketOne of the greatest things about March Madness is filling out a bracket, for everyone can do it.  My hilarious friend from college was bragging about her upset pick of Northern Iowa over Kansas because she soley picked the games on school color.

An incredible story, however, comes from Chicago, as 17-year-old, Alex Hermann, is most likely the only human on this earth that has a perfect bracket for this year's tournament.  With all of the upsets so far in this tournament, it is beyond a miracle that he has gotten this far.

  • Letterman & Kimmel Team To Bully Leno?

    Add Comment

David LettermanDavid LettermanI missed the David Letterman, show last night (3/16/10) to catch Betty White on Leno. Checking the web this morning, I read the buzz about  Jimmy Kimmel's appearance on Letterman's show. Jimmy Kimmel of  "Jimmy Kimmel Live!",  the late-night talk show that airs on ABC, and David Letterman of CBS late night show -- What did Kimmel and Letterman  talk about?  NBC's Jay Leno. What else? Letterman and Kimmel swapped stories about one of their favorite targets / topics, Jay Leno. I caught a clip of the Letterman and Kimmel exchange -- Yes, some of the jokes were funny, but that is not the point. It is not a good sign when the two of them feel the need to team up to trash Leno. After one week back at the 'Tonight "  show desk, Leno has placed the NBC show back on top. Letterman must be feeling the heat. Stay tune. Somehow, I feel that a Leno response is coming.
